Hearthstone organization ManaLight expresses interest to enter League of Legends
One of Hearthstone's leading organizations, ManaLight, is interested in entering League of Legends.
Initially, ManaLight made their intentions known through a post on Reddit, but after contacting the organization, theScore eSports can confirm the team's intentions to enter the European Challenger scene in the near future.
ManaLight was founded in September 2015, launching with several European Hearthstone players such as Harald "Powder" Gimre, Bertil "Frazzar" Fall and Will "Modernleper" Bindloss. They have since expanded their roster, but not beyond Hearthstone.
Managing Director, Louis Corp told theScore eSports that League of Legends is next on the list for the organization.
“I am delighted to announce that ManaLight is expanding into European League of Legends scene," he said. "This has been a long time coming for our organisation, since we opened many months ago. ManaLight started with a Hearthstone team and within the first month we were considered one of the best teams within the international scene and we still are to this day. We would like to continue the growth of our company by expanding into League of Legends, a scene that is extremely competitive and entertaining. We have very clear intentions of pushing for the European Challenger series and hopefully into the European LCS one day but we have to be realistic and understand this is not a sprint it is a marathon."
However, he also stated that ManaLight was focusing on infrastructure first, building a strong foundation on which to develop their future team.
"All of that being said we believe the most important statement ManaLight could make is one of intent and we believe the following will do just that. We are currently in talks with ex LCS staff and as we know that to have a successful team we need the right staff and infrastructure to allow the team to focus on what they do best. We will be holding open trials for anyone who plays within EUW and is Master or above. We want to try and combine experienced staff and players with up and coming talent that has yet to be given a chance.”
The current League of Legends market in Europe is in a significant state of flux, leaving the door open for new organizations such as ManaLight to make an impact in the Challenger scene. Rosters such as the Copenhagen Wolves, SK Gaming, and Denial eSports have all lost key members, making the acquisition of a top tier roster possible.
