Acorn re-signs with LGD Gaming, will play top and assist Heart in coaching
LGD Gaming confirmed on weibo that Choi "Acorn" Cheonju has re-signed with the team for 2016.
Today Acorn renewed with LGD club. In the new year he will serve as a top laner, but also to assist the new coach, Heart. Acorn may change his career in the future, but he hopes his last stop as a pro will be at LGD.
Acorn played top lane along with Lee "Flame" Hojong in 2015 LPL. He served as the team's primary top laner and was present for most important matches. The team expressed that they felt most comfortable playing with Acorn, initially because of experience, as Acorn joined the team first, but as time progressed, they found they had better synergy with Acorn.
With a 3.9 KDA for the year, Acorn grew into a versatile top laner in 2015, capable of playing his signature tanks as well as the occasional carry champion like Hecarim. Acorn spent part of 2015 Summer splitting his focus between top lane and coaching LGD, and it seems as if he will play more of a coaching role alongside Lee "Heart" Gwanhyung for 2016.
LGD have not yet given any official indication as to whether they will sign another top laner, but the announcement suggests Acorn will transition slowly into a coaching position for the future. More announcements are expected to come from the team later this week as they unveil their full roster.
