Fury, Eve, four others leave Samsung Galaxy; sign CoreJJ, Helper
Kim "Ace" Ji-hoon, Seo "Eve" Jun-cheolm Park "BlisS" Jong-won, Lee "Fury" Jin-yong, Jang "Luna" Kyung-ho, and coach Lee "Horang2" Kyeong-min have all left Samsung Galaxy, the organization announced on Monday.
"Thank you to all the players and coaches who did their best for the team last year and please cheer and encourage them," said Samsung Galaxy on Facebook.
Samsung Galaxy was one of the organization most affected by the Korean exodus in 2014 as well as the merging of sister teams at the start of the year. After Samsung White won the 2014 World Championship, most of the players left the organization and Samsung was forced to rebuild, largely with rookie or unproven talent. The team has been a basement dweller in the Korean domestic leagues throughout 2015, never making it to the playoffs.
Luna, Ace, BlisS, and Eve all made their competitive debuts for Samsung, but only Eve started more than a handful of games in the SBENU Champions Summer 2015 season.
Eve finished the season with a 3.16 KDA in 42 games, playing a wide variety of champions including Nidalee, Gragas and Evelynn. Luna started 22 games, finishing with a 1.60 KDA and finding most of his success on Janna. BlisS only started one game, a loss on Fizz, while Ace did not start any games this summer.
The final departing member, Fury, is by far the most experienced of the group, starting his career in 2013 with Prime Optimus. He joined Samsung Galaxy as part of their rebuild in late 2014, playing the role of primary AD Carry. He finished the summer primarily playing Sivir and Corki with a 3.47 KDA overall.
In a separate Facebook post on Tuesday, Samsung Galaxy also announced the acquisition of Kwon "Helper" Yeong-jae, Jo "CoreJJ" Yong-in, Lee "Stitch" Seung-ju, as well as coach Kim Jeong-su.
"Please look forward to watching this new players, and wish us a lot of success in 2016 with our new coach," said Samsung Galaxy in their press release.
CoreJJ should be familiar to North American fans, as he played with NA LCS squad Team Dignitas from Dec. 2014 - Nov. 2015. He finished the 2015 NA LCS Summer season with a 4.38 KDA.
Stitch is an AD Carry who most recently played in the LMS region for Midnight Sun eSports, Midnight Sun failed to qualify for the World Championship, falling to eventual representatives the Flash Wolves in the 2015 Season Taiwan Regional Finals.
Finally, Helper is an up-and-coming talent who made his competitive debut for CJ Entus as a backup to Park "Shy" Sang-myeon. In eight games this summer, he played his best on Shen and Gnar and held a 2.04 overall KDA.
With the recent roster changes, Samsung Galaxy becomes one of the few top teams in Korea with a complete team. However, there might still be changes to come ahead of next year.
